Color Comparison of Visually “Busy” Sites

One of the additional sites listed as a resource this week was “the colour experience” (http://www.colour-experience.org). I decided to take a look at this site’s color schemes and compare them to those used in the School of Visual Arts’ site.

Using the Redalt Color Analysis Tool....

Here are (respectively) the Overall, Index and Stylesheet colors from The Colour Experience Web site:

Here are (respectively) the Overall, Index and Events colors from the School of Visual Arts:

It appears that the two sites are similar in the number of colors they employ. However, they’re polar opposites when it comes to how they use colors. The School of Visual Arts uses the fewest colors in the “overall” makeup of their site base. The Colour Experience, however, used 22 colors in their site’s “overall” base graphics. These seem to use two pseudo-monochromatic themes.
